Common Stove Issues

Our technicians have the expertise needed to troubleshoot and repair your stove, regardless of the problem. Listed below are the most frequent issues we see:

Defective Spark Module

Sometimes the dryer would not dry the clothes completely – for a variety of reasons. It may be stopping in the middle of the cycle – either due to a short in the circuitry, damaged control board, or another malfunction.

Defective Spark Ignition Switch

The igniter switch is an electrical switch, which sends voltage to the spark module to produce a spark. If the burners do not spark when you turn the burner control knob to the On position, the burner igniter switch should be replaced.

Worn Out Spark Electrode

The spark electrode (also called a surface burner igniter) is an insulated electrode which sends a spark to light a surface gas burner. If the spark electrode is worn out, it might not produce a spark, or the spark might be too weak to ignite the gas. Replace the spark electrode if it fails to spark.

Faulty Surface Element Board

Some stoves have relays that regulate the power supply to the surface elements. If more than two burners fail at the same time, it means the surface element board is defective and should be replaced.

Damaged coil surface element

The coil surface element is controlled by a surface element switch and provides the heat for the cooktop. If the coil element won’t heat, it should be replaced.

Defective Surface Element Switch

The surface element switch is used to turn on/off the heating elements on an electric cooktop. When its contacts fail, the switch will not turn the surface burner on/off and will not control the heat level of the burner.

Damaged Surface Element

Electric stoves have two common styles of surface elements: a conventional coil and a smooth top radiant coil. When the selector knob is turned to a heat setting, the switch allows voltage to travel to the element, closing the circuit and causing the element to heat. If the element is shorted out, it may prevent the elements switch from shutting off the voltage.

Jermain. was my repair man, he was very nice and friendly. He did fix my dryer. I thought the price was hi for what he had to do. That's not his fault. $120.09 just to walk in the house plus the repair cost. But it's done.

GE dishwasher stopped working, no power no lights. I called and they came out the following day. Sergio is professional and quick and repaired the dishwasher within a half an hour and it worked for about 20 days. Unfortunately the same issue happened again. I called and Sergio came back within a couple of days and fixed it no charge, Sergio identified a faulty connection and repaired it. I had also identified a leak somewhere behind the dishwasher. Sergio pulled the dishwasher out and found it was a bad drainage hose. I told him I could repair it myself and did so. He did not charge me for finding the leak. I would use them again.

Ramics Repairs. My stove was acting strange, losing the electrical connection. I had had it “repaired” before, using a different company, but the fix didn’t work. The Ramics technician was easy to talk to and was able to fix the problem quickly. A very positive and even delightful experience.

FAQ

Why will my gas stove burner not ignite?

Moisture or debris around the burner, a misaligned burner cap, failed spark electrode, ignition switch, spark module, wiring issue, or gas-supply problem may prevent ignition. Stop if gas continues to flow without lighting.

Why does the stove igniter keep clicking?

A wet or dirty burner area, incorrectly seated burner cap, stuck ignition switch, damaged electrode, or spark-module problem can cause continuous clicking. Turn the burner controls off and arrange service if clicking continues after the area is clean and dry.

Can you repair gas, electric, induction, and dual-fuel stoves?

Yes. We service many gas, electric, induction, propane, and dual-fuel models. Share the model number and fuel type so we can confirm the appropriate service.

Why is an electric stove burner not heating?

The element, receptacle, infinite switch, wiring, control board, or incoming power may be faulty. If multiple elements fail, the issue may involve the power supply or a shared control component.

Is it safe to use another burner when one burner is malfunctioning?

It depends on the failure. Do not use the stove if you smell gas, see sparks, have uncontrolled heat, hear electrical arcing, or a breaker trips. When in doubt, shut the appliance off and have it inspected.
